Professor Ryszard Naskrecki (vice-rector for research and international collaboration”) and Professor Marek Kwiek (director of the Center for Public Policy Studies) defended a new AMU development plan for 2020-2026 – within the framework of a new Polish “Excellence Initiative”.
AMU is competing against 19 other universities for the title of the “research university”.
And for the additional 100 mln USD for the period (which is an additional 10% of current state subsidies, and 7% of the total budget).
The whole government Excellence program will cost 1 billion USD and is intended to boost international research in Polish universities.
An International Panel of Experts had interviews with teams from 20 universities, with the intention to select 8-10 by the end of October 2019.
