Professor Marek Kwiek, the Director of IAS, was granted an Honorary Doctorate by WSB University on 19.09.2025.
The ceremony gathered academics and politicians of the local and national level, social activists, journalists, and regional and international guests.

The honorary doctorate reviewers, prof. Hans de Witt and prof. Patrycja Matusz , presented their reviews of prof. Marek Kwiek’s contributions, highlighting the significance of his global and local publications, highly appreciating his quantitative research that is foundational for his qualitative expertise and philosophical reflection on Higher Education.
The dr. HC title was granted to Marek by Prof. Katarzyna Szczepańska-Woszczyna, one of the WSB University Rectors.
The promoter of the honorary doctorate, Prof. Łukasz Sułkowski, stressed the relevance of Marek Kwiek’s research on the national Higher Education policy development.
As a newly appointed Dr HC Marek Kwiek delivered a lecture summarising over 20 years of his HE research, pointing out the relevance of the emancipatory power of the global research community and the rising importance of the academic freedom of individual researchers in developed economies, enabling local innovation and economic growth worldwide.

The official representation of Adam Mickiewicz University was present at the ceremony: The AMU Vice Rector for Research, Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Roman Kubicki, Dr. Marcin Byczyński as Senior Research Associate, Project Manager of IAS and CPPS, and Na Sun, a visiting student from East China Normal University directly supervised by prof Marek Kwiek in Poland (under the supervision of prof. Yan Guangcai in China), being a research team member and intern of Marek Kwiek’s Centre for Public Policy Studies and IAS.
