On July 25, 2025 in Poznań, a meeting was held between leading Chinese and Polish researchers in higher education.

Visiting Professor Yan Guangcai (Member of Academic Advisory Committee, China Association of Higher Education, Director of the Institute of Higher Education – East China Normal University, China) and Li Feng (East China Normal University, China) had a meeting with Prof. Marek Kwiek and Dr Marcin Byczyński discussing future initiatives.
Young, talented scholars accompanied the talks. Na Sun, a visiting PhD student from East China Normal University, supervised by prof Marek Kwiek in Poland and by Prof. Yan Guangcai in China. Fangyuan Ma, PhD student of material engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (kindly providing all the photographs in this post).
The development of young, talented academics was a key issue of the discussions. Professor Yan Guangcai, observing the development of academic careers in China over the past 20 years, discussed future academic exchange activities in higher education between China and Poland. At the same time, Prof. Li Feng commented on the HE policy advancements regarding the development of young talent careers in the context of internationalisation. Prof. Marek Kwiek provided insights into the crucial factors necessary for young scholars to develop into the future research elite. Dr Marcin Byczyński indicated the necessary institutional background enabling joint action.

The discussion led to the topic of academic recognition, and the broad reception of Prof. Kwiek’s article, recently published in the Journal of East China Normal University (Educational Science Edition), has reached China.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss potential future collaborations and the development of an international research community of scholars located in China and Poland – creating capabilities for young scholars like Na Sun and Fangyuan Ma.
A mutual agreement about the possibilities of future collaborations has been reached.
